Amongst the picturesque cliffs of Mount Athos, Greece, lives a community of monks who have been on this sacred piece of land for centuries. Isolated and hard to reach, the mountain is one of the most important places in the Christian Orthodox world. The monks first arrived on the island in the ninth century, and their way of life has essentially remained the same. Most of their time is spent praying, cultivating the land and creating handmade products to sell. Come along and get lost in their tranquil way of life.

monastery amfia3Συνεχίζουμε τα αφιερώματα μας στις περιηγήσεις στον Αγιο Ορος με ένα εκπληκτικό βίντεο από drone, που αφορά την ανάβαση προς την κορυφή από την Ιερά Σκήτη της Αγίας ‘Αννας. Η λήψη του βίντεο όπως περιγράφεται έγινε την γιορτή της Μεταμορφώσεως του Σωτήρος και μάλιστα με αρκετά δύσκολες καιρικές συνθήκες (βροχή & αέρα). Αξίζει να σημειώσει κανείς ότι ενώ επικρατούσαν άσχημες καιρικές συνθήκες  (βροντές και αστραπές) όταν η ομάδα έφτασε στην κορυφή ο καιρός ήταν καθαρός.

Σας παραθέτουμε το βίντεο το οποίο αν και σύντομο είναι ίσως από τα πιο ωραία βίντεο που μπορεί να βρει κανείς στο διαδίκτυο για τον Αγιον Ορος.

To Περιβολι της Παναγιας (Μερος 1)

monastery amfia12Η ομάδα και οι φίλοι του e-amfia.gr επισκεπτόμαστε συχνά το Περιβόλι της Παναγίας. Το Άγιον Όρος, ως πυρήνας της Ορθοδοξίας αποτελεί τον φάρο και την πυξίδα που μας οδηγεί όλους στον καθημερινό αγώνα της ζωής μας. Ο καθένας από εμάς βιώνει με τον δικό του προσωπικό τρόπο την επίσκεψη του και παραμονή του στο Περιβόλι της Παναγίας. Σκεφτήκαμε λοιπόν να αναδείξουμε τις φωτογραφίες που μας στέλνουν οι φίλοι μας και πελάτες μας από το Άγιο Όρος, κυρίως για να καταγραφεί το αποτύπωμα και η στιγμή του καθενός μας στην κοιτίδα της Ορθοδοξίας.

Το Αγιο Όρος έχει φωτογραφηθεί, αφενός πολλάκις, αφετέρου οι πληροφορίες για τις Ιερές Μονές υπάρχουν παντού στο διαδίκτυο. Αυτό που μας ενδιαφέρει είναι να καταγράψουμε την προσωπική στιγμή του καθενός μας, όπως εκείνος την βιώνει και μπορεί να αποτυπωθεί σε μια φωτογραφία, ‘ώστε να παραμένει για πάντα ζωντανή.

St. Catherine’s Church (Agia Aikaterini) is small church with a beautiful sunken garden located in a central area of Athens. Greek ruins accent this garden illustrating how churches have been built on ancient temples throughout Greece.

The center of the island of Crete located Arkadi Monastery (Greek: Μονή Αρκαδίου, Moni Arkadiou) that his name due to the Byzantine (Eastern Roman) emperor Arkadios has an important role in the independence struggle of the Cretans against the Turks.

In the 5th century, the monastery at the site of a Byzantine church. The facade is Venetian and dates from 1587. The rest of the building dates from the 17th century. In the battle with the Turks, much of the interior has been lost. The monastery is still inhabited by Greek Orthodox monks.
